Happy New Year, Area 46! I’m excited to begin another year in service to Alcoholics Anonymous with all of you.
It was wonderful seeing everyone at the December Assembly in Taos. Special thanks to District 14 and all who volunteered to host and produce this event.
Congratulations and a warm welcome to our new El Farolito Editor, Jeff B, and our new Archivist, Rosie F.! Looking forward to working with both of you.
The planning meeting for our Pre-Conference Assembly will be on Saturday, January 25th, at St. Mark’s Episcopal in Albuquerque. We will host a workshop at 11:00 AM, followed by potluck lunch. The planning meeting will begin at 1:00 PM. Further details can be found on the event calendar at dev.aa-nia.org. This will be a hybrid meeting. All trusted servants and DCMs are encouraged to attend.
At the upcoming assembly in Carlsbad, Area 46 will entertain bids from Districts to host assemblies in March, August, and December 2026. We know that hosting an assembly can seem daunting and there are many hurdles to overcome, particularly finding a venue and funding. If these obstacles are preventing your district from putting together a bid, collaboration with other neighboring districts may be a solution. For example, Districts 11, 12, and 13 will be co-hosting the December 2025 Assembly together. This is not the only solution, and we will continue to discuss ways to ease the financial burden Districts have been absorbing in order to host. Your feedback is encouraged and welcomed.
If your District is interested in hosting an assembly or would like more information, please contact Christoph or me. We want to hear from you and your groups, and we are here to help along the way.
I am continuing to liaise with Central Offices/Intergroups and AA entities performing similar functions within Area 46. I appreciate the opportunity to participate and learn more through these connections.
You can reach me at altchair@dev.aa-nia.org if you or your committee need any support.
