Hello Area 46!
It was wonderful to see so many of you at our pre-conference assembly. Thank you for participating in the General Service Structure. When we share our group conscience with our delegate on specific conference agenda items, he is much better prepared to represent Area 46.
Life of a Conference Agenda Item – Virtual Workshop Audio Recording
Eloy and I conducted an online workshop on Saturday, March 4 on how an agenda item becomes an agenda item. You can view the PDF presentation and/or listen to the audio recording.
This is a workshop I can do for individual districts in person throughout this year.
Knocking Down Those Information Silos
In last month’s article I challenged you to find a way to start a new collaboration with another trusted servant that helps carry the message to the still suffering alcoholic. How are you doing? I cannot wait to see the silos tumble like dominoes. We are interconnected. Our fellowship and countless newcomers may benefit from your collaborative effort.

Preparing for Rotation
Now is the time to begin thinking about rotating on to your next service position. We need your service in Area 46 to carry the message to the still suffering alcoholic. Before you move on to your new role, please help the person rotating on into your current role. Just before the Panel 74 rotation begins next year plan on a rotation transition meeting with the person who steps into your role. Ask yourself these questions:
- What can I do to pass on important information to the next person?
- What can I do to set them up for success in their service role?
- How will I accomplish this? (HINT: Make a plan in advance.)
Any of your Area 46 officers, Eloy our delegate or myself as your alternate delegate can help you make a plan to rotate well.
"At about this stage we may have to take a critical decision. Maybe we have a policy or plan that still looks fine and is apparently doing well. Nevertheless we ought to ponder carefully what its longtime effect will be. Will today’s nearby advantages boomerang into large liabilities for tomorrow?"
