Hello Area 46!
It is an exciting time in Area 46. Our December assembly in Raton, hosted by District 6, sparked some creative ideas to strengthen service and fellowship relationships within our area. Our new trusted servants are settling in to the first quarter of the new rotation. It has been a joy to see committees already working with one another and districts working with committees.
District and Area 46 Committee Collaboration
District 6 and District 17 (one of our linguistic districts) have teamed up to create a new virtual, bilingual A.A. meeting that is translated by members of district 17. What a fantastic use of technology to bring members of Area 46 together for a regular meeting. This meeting is crossing both geographic and language divides at once.
Another exciting partnership is happening between the Grapevine/La Vina committee and the Bilingual committee. These committees are teaming up to make the monthly Grapevine/La Vina committee meeting truly bilingual. This effort will help the committee serve both Spanish and English-speaking members in Area 46 Grapevine. The Bilingual committee and District 17 hope to support other Area 46 committees by offering translation as well. Kudos all around!
72nd General Service Conference Agenda Items
The agenda items have been finalized for the 72nd General Service Conference. Eloy, our Area 46 Delegate, and I are working to assign different agenda topics to each area committee and district within Area 46.
As past delegate Bill L. started during his Panel 70 rotation, we will also be releasing a survey of agenda items to gather further information about the group conscience of Area 46 on agenda items. The survey will allow Eloy to hear from more members of Area 46. It will also allow A.A. members to read all the agenda items to take to their home groups for discussion. Discussing agenda items in your home group is still the best way to communicate the conscience of your group. Your GSR will then carry your groups conscience to the Area 46 assembly.
Our Area 46 pre-conference assembly is March 26-27 in Moriarty and hosted by District 13. Please make plans to attend the Saturday evening sharing session. This session is set aside for Eloy to gather information from your groups and districts about the agenda items. On Sunday morning a “conference sharing” session is built into the agenda. This is a time for Area 46 members to comment on Conference agenda items of concern to your groups.
District Workshops
Part of my role as your Alternate Delegate is to work with districts of Area 46 to host workshops. A couple of districts are already talking with me about doing a service workshop this year. If your district already has a workshop idea, I am a ready and willing resource for you. Please contact me at altdelegate@dev.aa-nia.org or 865.804.2566.
In True Gratitude and Service,
Kerri K
