SERVICE MANUAL STUDY
Our study of the A.A. Service Manual and Twelve Concepts for World Service is going strong. We meet every other Monday at 7 PM. Our next meeting is Monday, April 3. All A.A. members are welcome! I hope all of you will join us! Please encourage your GSRs, committee chairs & others in your district to join as well. This study helps us learn more about the A.A. general service structure & why we all serve.

SWRDA
The Southwest Region Delegate Assembly (SWRDA) is an incredible learning experience for current delegates and alternate delegates in the Southwest region. It is a weekend full of learning from past delegates and trustees in our region. SWRDA works to ensure that our delegate, and alternates), are prepared to go to the general Service Conference. This year I have the privilege of serving as the chair of the Southwest region Alternate delegate committee. We met during SWRDA to talk about items related to SWRAASA.
REMOVING INFORMATION SILOS
The upside-down triangle is completely reliant on communication between each of the levels of service. Often times, those of us in service operate in information silos. Our program is a “we” program. It is a “we” program in every aspect of our Three Legacies: Recovery, Unity and Service. All service work in A.A. exists to make twelfth step work possible. When we work together, we can accomplish so much more than we can on our own. If you are not doing so already, I strongly encourage you to collaborate with other trusted servants while serving in your current service role.
Some examples of powerful collaboration include area/district committees working together such as Public Information and Cooperation with the Professional Community; Corrections, Bridge the Gap and Treatment Facilities. Another example of collaboration is the Technology Committee working with the host district to produce hybrid assemblies. Yet another is District 6 and District 17 working together to start an online bilingual A.A. meeting. Remember, a committee of one is NOT a committee!
My challenge to you – find a way to start a new collaboration with another trusted servant that helps carry the message to the still suffering alcoholic. Our fellowship and countless newcomers may benefit from your collaborative effort.
LIFE OF AN AGENDA ITEM WORKSHOP
Eloy and I conducted an online workshop on Saturday, March 4 on how an agenda item becomes an agenda item. You can view the PDF presentation and/or listen to the audio recording. The link is on the home page of the Service Site. This is a workshop I can do for individual districts in person throughout this year. Please remember to share your thoughts on specific agenda items with Eloy, our delegate.
SOUTHWEST REGIONAL FORUM
Regional Forum events allow members throughout the service structure to exchange information. They bring together:
- The General Service Board
- A.A. World Services, Inc.
- A.A. Grapevine, Inc.
- The General Service Office and Grapevine staff
- A.A. members
- Newcomers to service
- Trusted servants
The Southwest Regional Forum will be held just down the road in El Paso, Texas September 29-Oct 1, 2023. The forum will be at the Radisson El Paso Airport Hotel El Paso, TX. This is an amazing opportunity. Please do not miss it. You can find details on thee Area 46 Service Site.
Area 46 will be hosting this event in 2025 in Albuquerque. GSO contracts with the hotel and covers cost of meeting space and negotiates the room block. As the host area we can supply coffee and/or other hospitality options at our expense.
DISTRICT WORKSHOPS
Workshop season is upon us. I have a few workshop presentations already developed that I would love to share with your district. Or… you can ask for a workshop on any other service-related topic that would benefit your district. I stand ready and willing!
