Alt Delegate Report (November) 2022

Alt Delegate Report (November) 2022

Hello Area 46!

SWRAASA Rocked!  It was wonderful to see so many A.A. members who are passionate about A.A. service and understand that service is vital. For it is our service work that makes carrying the message possible so that the 12th step work of one alcoholic talking to another can occur.

All of our presenters from Area 46 represented us well.  Guadalupe G., our District 17 La Vina chair, presented on La Vina which was translated by Alvaro G. into English.  His passion for La Vina and for service was evident.  Laura S., our area Technology Chair presented on Area Websites and showcased how our new Area 46 website is a resource for trusted servants at all levels and the importance of building a website with rotation in mind. Melanie K., our area Public Information Chair did a great job presenting on the General Service Structure. It was well—researched and presented. On Saturday night we heard an 8-minute presentation from each of the delegates in the Southwest Region.  Eloy’s topics was “A.A., inclusive, never exclusive.” On Friday night each of the alternate delegates in the Southwest Region presented on a tradition.  Mine was Tradition Nine. I talked about Five Reasons Why Tradition 9 Matters. I have posted my presentation on my alternate delegate’s page on the service site.

Delegate Reports and Workshops

In November and December, I will continue traveling to the districts when Eloy gives his delegate report. Additionally, I have workshops coming up in several districts.

Vision – Have you got one?

My servant leadership note for the next few months will be focused on what Bill W. had to say about vision in leadership. We are nearly one year into our current rotation.  Bill defines vision as making “good estimates” for now and fir the future. As a leader in A.A., do you have a vision for your committee, your district or your group? Have you set goals on what you would like to accomplish. If you have cast a vision for your committee or district, then I say Well Done! If you have not done so yet, then there is no time like the present! If you need help with vision, please reach out many of the resources we have down our service triangle.  DCM’s and committee chairs – reach out to Area 46 Officers, Your Delegate and Alternate Delegate. GSR’s – reach out to your DCM or Alternate DCM.

Servant Leadership Note

"Now we come to the all-important attribute of vision. Vision is, I think, the ability to make good estimates, both for the immediate and for the more distant future. Some might feel this sort of striving to be a sort of heresy, because we A.A.’s are constantly telling ourselves, “One day at a time.” But that valuable principle really refers to our mental and emotional lives and means chiefly that we are not foolishly to repine over the past nor wishfully to daydream about the future."

In True Gratitude and Service, Kerri K Area 46 Alternate Delegate, Panel 72 altdelegate@dev.aa-nia.org
