Greetings to our Beautiful Fellowship.
The Archives Committee met at the Pre-Conference Assembly on March 27, 2021. There were 7 members in attendance, representing 6 districts. All 6 districts reported Archives Committee activity. We have received 3 group histories. We shortened our business portion of the meeting to discuss the Pre-Conference Agenda Items given to us by our Delegate. The first item was to review the Archives Workbook from GSO. The most current workbook has a copyright of 2019. We agree with the Mission Statement, role of the Archives committee and the Tools and Suggested Activities for Archives Committee. We feel Area 46 is in line with what the workbook suggests. We do not suggest any changes at this time. The 2nd Agenda item was a discussion on suggesting a more recent history book put out by GSO. We are in favor of this. “AA Comes of Age’s copyright is 1957. “Language of The Heart’s copyright is 1988. We would like to see the past 30+ years in a history book. We thought particularly of AA membership with diverse back-grounds, cultures, more women and young people and how we carry our Recovery Message.
The next Archives committee meeting will be on Zoom, May 7, 2021 at 7pm. This meeting is posted under events on our Area 46 web-site, dev.aa-nia.org. Anyone interested or curious, please join us. It was great to do an Archives presentation to District 3, on April 10th. Thank you Gary J, DCM, and Pam Mc, D3 Ar-chives chair, for the opportunity to do service work. A shout out to all DCMs and GSRs, I am looking for-ward to sharing Archives information with your districts and groups. Physical traveling is an option and also meeting on Zoom. Additionally, expenses to purchase speakers and a mouse for the laptop of $36.27 bring YTD spending to $47.01.
I am grateful to serve Area 46 as your Archives committee chairperson,
In love and service,
Patience B,
Area 46 Archives Committee Chair
