Bilingual Committee Report – Feb 2021

Hola, Area 46

Now that 2021 has began, the Bilingual Committee is welcoming the new virtual way of service work with open arms in the present times we are in. The benefits of getting together from different geographical places, that in normal times it would be realistically impossible are a blessing. Now with a click of a bottom an “Zoom” we are connected, sharing ideas in how to carry the message to the still suffering alcoholic out there.

The Bilingual Committee took part in the subcommittee meeting on January 6th of the Ad Hoc About the books, regarding the second edition of the Spanish version of the Big Book and what recommendation it to give to the full committee on January 13th. I was also part, of the 2021 Service Forum Program committee on January 4th. On, January 5th we had our second virtual Committee meeting, Ray R. and Eloy C. were in attendance. The committee came up with a short-term attainable goal, which is to have more participation from District 17 and the Spanish community at the March Assembly. One way to make this happen is to hold a zoom tech support at my home group Ultimo Paso on Friday night’s at 7:30 pm for those interested in learning how to log and find a meeting. This will be possible with the Cosmo Friday night speaker meeting at 8:00 pm. We plan on having these meetings on an ongoing basis for practice and get-ting comfortable with the virtual AA world. On Saturday, the 9th I went to District 17 service meeting and presented them with the work shop the Bilingual Committee is holding on Friday’s starting January 15th and on every other Friday.

Our little Zoom log-in workshop took place and it had more success than I could have anticipated and eager to have more available to those interested in participating in Zoom meetings. A lot of ideas came at the end of the Zoom meeting and we had a discussion of what their thoughts were. My conclusion was not in favor but willingness to participate.

As it looks the Bilingual Commit-tee has work ahead, before we are all together at the March Assembly. As a reminder to all DCM, GSR, Commit-tee’s, Trusted Servant and everyone that has an idea or a need from the Bilingual Committee join us in our monthly meeting or send us an invite to participate in yours thanks.
