Hello Area 46! Our Corrections Committee end of February bank balance is $175.15. Thank you to the Happy Valley Group, the West-side Noon’s Circle of Love Group, and the Las Mujeres On-Line Women’s Group for your donations, they are very much appreciated and are used to help us continue to carry the message to those behind the walls. A ZOOM Corrections Committee meeting was held on 2/11/2021 and some great ideas were discussed, thank you to everyone that attended.
I’ve been working with Janet A., our District 18 CPC Chair, and she provided me with a contact for the Chaplain of New Mexico State Pris-on Facilities. He in turn provided me with a list of 10 Chaplains at the State Prisons and their contact information. Chaplain Everett is knowledge-able of our AA program of recovery and expressed a desire for literature to further educate inmates. So, I purchased 30 softcover Big Books and 30 softcover 12 Steps and 12 Traditions through our AA Central Office in Albuquerque ($576.00). I have mailed each of the State Prison Chaplains two of each book to be placed in their libraries or reading areas that inmates have access to. In addition to the book purchase, we were given 21 copies of “AA in Prison: Inmate to In-mate”, stories to the Grapevine from inmates. I have included one copy of this in addition to the books I have mailed to the State Prison Chaplains. This is how your donations are being used to carry our message to those in prisons, and it is working.
I have also been working with Renee L., our District 13 Corrections Chair, and she has been instrumental in finding a printing company who has agreed to provide the AA Meeting postcards and imprint the post-cards with the necessary information for us. If you remember, these are the informational meeting postcards that will be sent out to each District DCM or AA Group. The Groups in turn, will fill out the postcards with their local meeting names, address-es, days and times of meetings. The postcards should then be distributed to the Parole and Probation Offices in the cities in their Districts where they can be given to those checking-in with their Parole/Probation Officers. Again, this is how your contributions are being used to continue to carry our message of recovery. To help with final distribution of the AA Meeting postcards I’m going to need your help please. If you are a DCM or Group GSR, please send me an email (corrections@dev.aa-nia.org) and provide your name, address, zip, phone number, Group Name and District Number and I’ll make every effort to get some AA Meeting Cards to you including the basic instructions for completing and distributing the cards. I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve the Fellowship that saved my life.
