December Assembly Report

Hello from the literature committee!  Here is the report from our recent meeting at the December Assembly:

12/7/24 9:45 a.m.:

1. Open with the Serenity Prayer
2. Welcome and introductions – sign in
   • The literature committee meets on the third Thursday of every month over zoom
3. Announcement: the Plain Language Big Book is now in print
   • The first printing sold out quickly and an expedited second printing is in progress.
4. Scope of literature committee
   • Based on feedback, the literature committee will still sell literature
   • Scope of literature sales will be scaled back to:
     • The Big Book (English and Spanish)
     • The 12 and 12 (English and Spanish)
     • The Daily Reflections (English and Spanish)
     • The Plain Language Big Book (at least for the short term)

5. New literature displays
   • Would like to have a tablet linked to the GSO website’s literature listing as part of the literature display that people can browse
   • Working on standardizing what books and pamphlets will be a permanent part of the display
     • Discussion as a committee about what items would be good to feature for our Area.
     • Suggestions of specific books and methods to determine which books are most populare in our Area

6. Newcomer pamphlet recommendations – report back
   • The literature committee reported back on suggestions put together by the committee in advance of the Assembly on suggestions of what might go into a newcomer pamphlet
   • Took additional suggestions/feedback from those in attendance
   • Will compile a final list of suggestions and share with the Area.
7. Questions/suggestions for topics for future meetings
   • Requests for feedback on our Area’s experience with the Plain Language Big Book
8. Adjourn with the responsibility statement
