December 2021 Delegate Report
Delegate (ENGLISH)
During November I held the last Delegate’s Conference Report of my rotation. It caused me to take pause and reflect upon the end of my rotation, and what it has all been about and what it has all meant to me.
This is the 120th consecutive El Farolito report that I will submit, and like everything else that is completing its cycle in service for me, it will be the last service entry that I will have in the Elf.
I suppose that the most significant thing about this rotation will be its place in AA history. So many things were “The First Of”. And just like the early pioneering days of the late 1930’s and early 1940’s, we were in a flying blind period again in AA. I know that each and every one of us, whether at the individual level, the Group level, the District level, the Area level, the Conference level, or the Board level, had to rigorously face our internal fears and decide what was best for AA and for the suffering alcoholic, and how best could we carry our message of hope to those who needed it. And from this soul searching, I hope that each of you was able to find a renewed confidence and comfort in AA and our ability to help each other, no matter what. I think that the resilience of AA and the resolve of AA was on full display in our manner of adapting to the times were found ourselves in.
On a personal level, I know that I am forever grateful to have been a part of AA history, and to have been a part of AA at such a historical time. We may never again be faced with so much uncertainty as we have been exposed to in the past two years. And we may never be blessed with so many opportunities for growth in such a short period again. I know that the impacts of this rotation are significant in my life, and the full realization of them is probably yet to come in future reflection on all that we have been through together.
I also hope that all of these endeavors do not go by the wayside after this pandemic is seen in the rear-view mirror. We have gained much in our ability to carry the message, communicate, and conduct Area business because of the pandemic. As you know, I serve on the Conference Committee for Treatment and Accessibilities. Accessibilities and Remote Communities are near and dear to my heart. I genuinely believe that if nothing else comes of this pandemic and all of this Zoom stuff, if our Area can become more accessible via hybrid, and if the Area Committees can continue to have Zoom Committee meetings in between Assemblies, our Area will have benefitted greatly from the technology that we were forced to embrace during the pandemic. If we let it all lapse, and do nothing with our new technology capabilities, I think we as an Area will miss out on great opportunities to Carry our Message – which after all is our primary purpose. I am responsible. When anyone, anywhere reaches out for help, I want the hand of AA always to be there, and for that I am responsible. We are again at a crossroads. Are we going to build upon and expand what we have developed? Or are we going to backslide to where we were, pre-pandemic and pretend it never happened? Are we going to take the best of the technology and its capabilities and make use of it? Or are we going to toss it aside in favor of the more comfortable past? I hope that we as a Fellowship always look forward, and never cease to exhaust every possible way to carry our message.
As the sun sets on my formal Service Career in Area 46, I want to thank you for your confidence and trust in me to serve as your Panel 70 Delegate. When the night falls upon my time, know that even if not seen in the darkness, I will always be here in love and service to Area 46 in any capacity that I might bring Experience, Strength and Hope.

Informe del Delegado de diciembre de 2021
Durante el mes de noviembre celebré el último Informe de la Conferencia de Delegados de mi rotación. Me hizo hacer una pausa y reflexionar sobre el final de mi rotación, y de qué se ha tratado y qué ha significado todo para mí.
Este es el 120º informe consecutivo de El Farolito que presentaré, y como todo lo demás que está completando su ciclo en servicio para mí, será la última entrada de servicio que tendré en El Farolito.
Supongo que lo más significativo de esta rotación será su lugar en la historia de AA. Tantas cosas fueron “La Primera De”. Y al igual que los primeros días pioneros de finales de la década de 1930 y principios de la de 1940, estábamos en un período ciego volador nuevamente en AA. Sé que todos y cada uno de nosotros, ya sea a nivel individual, a nivel de Grupo, a nivel de Distrito, a nivel de Área, a nivel de Conferencia o a nivel de la Junta de Servicios Generales, tuvimos que enfrentar rigurosamente nuestros temores internos y decidir qué era lo mejor para AA y para el alcohólico que sufría, y cuál era la mejor manera de llevar nuestro mensaje de esperanza a aquellos que lo necesitaban. Y de esta búsqueda del alma, espero que cada uno de ustedes haya podido encontrar una confianza y comodidad renovadas en AA y nuestra capacidad de ayudarnos mutuamente, pase lo que pase. Creo que la resiliencia de AA y la determinación de AA estaban en plena exhibición en nuestra forma de adaptarnos a los tiempos en los que nos encontrábamos.
A nivel personal, sé que estoy eternamente agradecido de haber sido parte de la historia de AA, y de haber sido parte de AA en un momento tan histórico. Es posible que nunca más nos enfrentemos a tanta incertidumbre como la que hemos estado expuestos en los últimos dos años. Y es posible que nunca más seamos bendecidos con tantas oportunidades de crecimiento en un período tan corto. Sé que los impactos de esta rotación son significativos en mi vida, y la plena realización de ellos probablemente aún esté por venir en la reflexión futura sobre todo lo que hemos pasado juntos.
También espero que todos estos esfuerzos no se queden en el camino después de que esta pandemia se vea en el espejo retrovisor. Hemos ganado mucho en nuestra capacidad para llevar el mensaje, comunicarnos y llevar a cabo negocios de Área debido a la pandemia. Como saben, soy parte del Comité de la Conferencia para el Tratamiento y las Disponibilidades. Las disponibilidades y las comunidades remotas son cercanas y queridas para mi corazón. Realmente creo que si nada más surge de esta pandemia y todas estas cosas de Zoom, si nuestra Área puede ser más accesible a través de un híbrido, y si los Comités de Área pueden continuar teniendo reuniones del Comité de Zoom entre Asambleas, nuestra Área se habrá beneficiado enormemente de la tecnología que nos vimos obligados a adoptar durante la pandemia. Si dejamos que todo transcurra y no hacemos nada con nuestras nuevas capacidades tecnológicas, creo que nosotros, como Área, perderemos grandes oportunidades para Transmitir nuestro Mensaje, que después de todo es nuestro propósito principal. Soy responsable. Cuando alguien, en cualquier lugar, busca ayuda, quiero que la mano de AA siempre esté allí, y por eso soy responsable. Estamos de nuevo en una encrucijada. ¿Vamos a construir y ampliar lo que hemos desarrollado? ¿O vamos a retroceder a donde estábamos, antes de la pandemia y fingir que nunca sucedió? ¿Vamos a tomar lo mejor de la tecnología y sus capacidades y hacer uso de ella? ¿O vamos a dejarlo de lado en favor del pasado más cómodo? Espero que nosotros, como Comunidad, siempre miremos hacia adelante, y nunca dejemos de agotar todas las formas posibles de llevar nuestro mensaje.
A medida que el sol se pone en mi carrera formal de Servicio en el Área 46, quiero agradecerle por su confianza y confianza en mí para servir como su Delegado del Panel 70. Cuando la noche caiga sobre mi tiempo, sepan que incluso si no se ven en la oscuridad, siempre estaré aquí en amor y servicio al Área 46 en cualquier capacidad que pueda traer Experiencia, Fortaleza y Esperanza.
