Happy New Year to all of Area 46. 2020 is behind us, and all of the promise of 2021 is ahead of us. But let us not forget that we are still in this pandemic, and our primary focus needs to remain on how we reach the still suffering alcoholic in these virtual times. So many suffer in our Area who do not have access to technology. We need to continue to be vigilant about reaching out to our fellows in any person-to-person avenues that are available. No matter how limited they may be, we simply cannot give up reaching out. Talk to your home group members and see if there is anything else that you can think of to reach newcomers. We are doing well to stay connected to those we know during this health crisis, but what of those we have not met yet? Are we finding and connecting with them? “Our very lives, as ex-problem drinkers, depend upon our constant thought of others and how we may help meet their needs.” Let us keep our focus on our primary purpose and let us keep our Gratitude, Love, and Service to others in our hearts.
Thank you again to District 10 for hosting our December Assembly, and again many thanks go out to Kerri, our Web Chair and her team. Each of you contributed to the successful Assembly which allowed Area 46 to conduct our business. I would also like to extend a thank you to all our presenters for the Saturday Night “A Taste of SWRAASA” evening session. Everyone did such a wonderful job. It is a privilege to watch you serve. Congratulations are in order for our newly elected nominee for Trustee-at-Large – US. Teresa J. is an excellent nominee from our Area.
January will start our busy time before Conference. Early in the month we will see preliminary agenda Items. Late in the month, I will be given the opportunity to attend the Board Weekend where the final agenda Items will be slated. February will bring the final agenda items and the background information. We will utilize March to review and convene at the end of March for our Pre-Conference Assembly. I look for-ward to hearing from Area 46 to gather our Area Conscience. Eloy and I will at-tend SWRDA March 12-13 on a virtual platform to prepare for the 71st General Service Conference. As previously mentioned, the Conference will also be virtual again this year.
Work continues at the GSO Treatment and Accessibilities to move forward with Remote Communities Committees Guidelines and a Work-book. We will be given the opportunity to provide further input at this year’s Conference. I am excited to serve on the Conference Treatment and Accessibilities Committee. There is still a lot of outreach work that needs to be done.
I remain forever grateful for the opportunity to serve Area 46 as your Delegate. Thank you for allowing me to be the caretaker of this great responsibility for a short while.
In Love and Service,
Bill L., Area 46 Delegate
