Warm Greetings to everyone in Area 46. Hopefully, you each have been feeling the presence and love of your Higher Power. I know that I have felt that presence with me during this past month, in which I have had some personal concerns for my aging mom and some health is-sues for her. Uncertainty opens the door for fear, and as we all know from our program, we need to meet that fear with our Higher Power front and center in our lives. To that Great End, Freedom from Fear, is one of our greatest gifts, second perhaps only to Acceptance. In finding acceptance without fear, we can all thrive, individually or as an entire Fellowship even in these uncertain and trying times. How blessed are we to have such a beautiful program in our lives?
I have been busy this past month. I was invited, as a Conference Committee Chair, to attend 32 zoom hours during the January Board Weekend. We were invited to at-tend the Grapevine Board meeting on Friday January 29, 2021 and then attend the General Service Board meetings throughout the weekend. On Monday, February 1, 2021 we were invited as observers at the General Service Board meeting. It is at minimum, genuinely interesting to see the inner workings of the General Service Board.
On February 3, we had an orientation meeting with the Conference Treatment and Accessibilities Committee. February 5 saw the release of the list of Final Agenda Items, which is posted on the Delegate’s page. February 15th was the release date of the Background Information in English with Spanish to follow by March 1. After release of the back-ground information, I worked with our Technology Chair, Kerri, again to create a Survey. A link to the Survey is also on the Delegate’s web page.
Our Pre-Conference Assembly is coming on March 27th and 28th. I hope that all of you will participate in the conference process. We have the survey, the Standing Committees and DCM’s will be holding sharing sessions on agenda items, and we will have a sharing session on Saturday night. There are numerous opportunities for you to express your voice to the Delegate before this year’s Conference.
Between now and the start of the Conference on April 18th, I will have another housekeeping meeting with the Treatment and Accessibilities Committee, as well as our Joint Committee meeting with our corresponding Trustee. And as always, the Re-mote Communities meeting will take place the day before Conference on April 17th.
I was offered the gift of sharing Experience Strength and Hope on February 27th and have been invited to provide sharing at a workshop on March 10th.
I remain forever Grateful for the opportunity to Serve Area 46 as your Delegate. Thank you for allowing me to be the caretaker of this great responsibility for a short while.
In Love and Service,
Bill L., Area 46 Delegate
