District 13 Report – Jan 2021

Greetings from District 13! We meet on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m. We are in need of a Bridge-the-Gap Chair and a Young People Chair. If you are interested and avail-able to serve in either of these positions, join us so you can be elected! Our next meeting is on Saturday, January 9, 2021. For the foreseeable future we will be meeting online via Zoom. Feel free to join through video or phone. Our Meeting ID is: 719-543-888 on the Zoom app or you can dial in: 1-346-248-7799, Access Code: 719-543-888.

Both Andrew and Kindyl celebrated 4 years in December. Congratulations!

Thank you to all who attended the Area 46 Virtual Assembly last month, and special accolades to the Technology Committee for all of the extraordinary effort to make it happen.

District 13 is continuing to focus efforts on providing more of a Public Information presence during the COVID-19 health crisis. Our goal is to communicate to the public that Alcoholics Anonymous is here, both on-line and in person, if they, or someone they know needs help with a drinking problem. We currently have GSO-approved public service announcements airing on a free broadcast, podcast and streaming radio platform, and are working on submitting similar information to local television and newspaper outlets through coordinated efforts with other Districts and the Area 46 Public Information Committee.

At our December meeting, we took some time to consider questions from the Ad-Hoc Committee About the Books:

Would your District like to receive any or all the books which could come to you if the Area accepts a proportion-al distribution?

Can you help us think through how to distribute these books out to the world?

The district was substantially in favor of receiving the books and came up with the following ideas for distribution: donate to libraries, therapist’s offices, doctor’s offices, schools, treatment facilities, and correctional facilities within our district.

We are working on a bid to host the March 2022 Area 46 Assembly, and communicating with several potential venues. It is our sincere hope that we are able to gather in person at that time.

I am also planning to begin visiting groups virtually to encourage GSRs and/or Group Contacts to attend monthly District meetings and quarterly Area Assemblies.

Please consider including District 13 when your group makes quarterly distributions. It is through your generous contributions that we are able to provide services to our local A.A. community. Checks can be made out to District 13, and mailed to P.O. Box 11134, Albuquerque, NM 87112.

To contribute digitally, follow this link: https://venmo.com/?txn=pay&audi-ence=private&recipients=district-13 or send contribution in Venmo to user: district-13.

We hope to see you at our next virtual District meeting in January. Your participation and your vote are very important.

In love & service,

Laura S.
