District 18 Report – Jan 2021

I am writing this as your new District 18 ELF Rep and I am so grateful for the opportunity. Of course, we are continuing to deal with COVID-19 and all the challenges that come with it. I am so grateful to be a part of AA and the positive impact it has had in my life.

Although I personally miss live meetings, I have to say the AA community has done an amazing job with virtual meetings. Our district 18 meeting last month (November) and this month (December) went amazingly. Susan D. our new DCM has been doing an amazing job and is always offering help where needed. Also, for being virtual I thought the area assembly went amazing. All our leaders did an amazing job. Thank you all!

The lunchbox group at the Mesa Club (noon meeting everyday) is my home group of which I am the GSR. Our lunchbox group has an amazing virtual meeting, so I invite anyone seeking recovery to attend. Also, it looks like all positions are filled here at district 18 at this time.

I was just thinking how proud I am of AA and despite all the changes as life goes on like the internet, probation offices, drug court, etc. When people see that someone has achieved sobriety through AA, sponsorship, meetings, the steps and spirituality they see this as a recipe for success.

Remember this pandemic is not forever and like everything else that AA is challenged with AA will keep moving forward.

Yours in service,

Michael P.
