Thank you District 14 for hosting a great assembly. Your planning committee did a fantastic job making Area 46 feel welcome in del Norte. And thank you to all who attended and participated in our work. Without all of you, I’d just be standing up there all alone with my little plans and designs.
I got a couple of lessons on unity during the assembly weekend that I will try to make amends for. Due to the lack of Spanish translations during our new business portion and my negligence during our voting procedure, I will make it a priority to be more mindful of our Spanish speaking community as well as our online community. I know that we cannot have a complete group conscience without the participation of everyone and in the future I will make a better effort to acknowledge and include all who are present. As always, I hope for many opportunities to grow.
As I briefly mentioned during the assembly, Alt. Chair Laura and I are encouraging the area to begin discussions about how we might gather and do assembly business in the future. In the last few years, the cost of our assemblies have increased significantly and hosting has become very difficult for our districts. A few ideas to relieve the strain have been introduced, including the one day assembly or the one virtual assembly per year. We are hoping to get more input from our groups and districts as we are not optimistic that we can maintain our current practices. All the area DCM’s have our notes from the last workshop we held about this issue if your group would like more information.
Our next gathering will be our workshop/ potluck/ assembly planning meeting on January 25 in Albuquerque. After that, I’ll see you in District 10, Carlsbad, for our Pre-Conference Assembly. Until then, be grateful and serve well.
In Service,
Christoph, A46 Chair
