Hit the Ground Running!

Hit the Ground Running!

Happy New Year!

I am so thrilled to be serving in this new rotation at this time in A.A. history.  Our first-ever hybrid assembly, hosted by District 6 in Raton, was wonderful. The District 6 team were gracious and attentive hosts. It was amazing to see so many of us online and in-person come together to conduct the business of Area 46.

As your new Alternate Delegate, I “hit the ground” running soon after the September 2021 election.  I began attending a monthly meeting for North American Alternate Delegates, attended the Southwest Region Regional forum (and served on the tech team), met with the Southwest Region Alternate Delegates committee, and attended a meeting to hear a General Service Board report from our Jimmy Dean, our Southwest Regional Trustee. I believe it is important to always remain teachable. Attending all these meetings with so much collective wisdom has shown me just how much I still have to learn. Bill L., (our outgoing delegate), has also reminded Eloy M., (our new Delegate) and I that we have a little “light reading” coming to get prepared for the General Service Conference.  Bring it on – I am up for the challenge!

A beautiful accessibility opportunity has come out of being forced to meet virtually for the past two years. We can carry the message of Alcoholics Anonymous in more ways than we ever thought possible. Our fellowship has always had members who have not been able to serve because they do not have the means to travel, they have compromised health, accessibility issues and many other reasons. Area 46 has invested in hybrid equipment to make sure service events can be attended in person or online. As we begin this new rotation, I challenge all of us who serve to encourage new members to get involved in service. We serve to make sure the hand of A.A. is always available to those who want our solution.

Part of my role as your Alternate Delegate is to work with districts of Area 46 to host workshops. Soon I will be reaching out to DCM’s and Alternate DCM’s to ask how I can best serve the needs of each district through various workshops. If your district already has a workshop idea, I am a ready and willing resource for you. Please contact me at altdelegate@dev.aa-nia.org or 865.804.2566.

In True Gratitude and Service,

Kerri K
Area 46 Alternate Delegate, Panel 72
