Hybrid Events Production Committee Report – August 2024

Hello Friends,

I write you this as we have just wrapped up yet another successful Area Assembly, this time hosted by my own District 18!  I am learning that every event brings its own challenges and opportunities for surrender to my Higher Power!  During this event, our staffing plan changed, we had some equipment fail, and we had to deal with some unique requirements for the breakout rooms – thank you to everyone who helped us “live life on life’s terms” and adapt to the changing situation and to everyone who showed the whole team grace while we did so.

It wasn’t all challenges, though – we were able to successfully reconfigure the main room so we could play “JeopAArdy,” hosted by the Archives Committee followed immediately by another quick reconfiguration to a “fireside chat” format for our Delegate Kerri K. and Patrick C. from GSO.  We also hosted our first in-person committee meeting at the Assembly and talked with some of the folks hosting in Taos to help them prep as well as another District which was interested in potentially hosting an Assembly.

If your District is interested in hosting an upcoming Assembly but are concerned about the technical aspects, please reach out and I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.  Additionally, you may want to check out the Area’s guide to hosting an Assembly, which is on the service site at https://dev.aa-nia.org/service/area-46-info/host-an-assembly/

As always, I welcome your feedback on how the event went for you.  We want to build on our successes and learn from our shortcomings.  You’ll find my contact information below.

In Love and Service,

Andy S.
