Literature Committee Report – Jan 2021

Greetings Area 46,

First off, I would like to thank District 10 for hosting our December 2020 assembly. It sure seems to be getting easier as we learn to adapt to our new way of holding events. In the Literature committee meeting there were 10 in attendance with two district literature chairs, we did talk about a lot more than selling books so once again, I would like to ask the area DCMs to please get a literature chair. My first service commitment at a district level was to be the literature chair for District 3. There was not a lot to do as far as selling books, but I got to be a part of the statewide service structure and it was a great way to learn firsthand how the service aspect of AA works.

I reported about a new book AA World Services is publishing called A Visual History of AA. This book was supposed to be sold as a souvenir at the International Convention in De-troit, but since that did not happen it is now being offered on the newly upgraded webstore at AA.org. This looks like a really cool book with over 400 pages with many historical photos of AA through the years. A project I will be working on will be to have links to commonly used AA literature on our website dev.aa-nia.org. Some of the things to be added will be the various committee workbooks that are available for download. Starting in January there will be a monthly Literature Committee meeting on Zoom. I am thinking of having it on the first Wednesday of each month. If that slot is open I will be sending out notices to the members who were at the assembly meeting and if anybody would like to join, please send me an email at literature@dev.aa-nia.org.

Thank to all, stay safe and Happy Holidays,

Dave F.
