SWRAASA Report

This month I had the honor of participating at the Southwest Regional Alcoholics Anonymous Service Assembly (SWRAASA) in Area 65, Dallas, Texas. Our Area sent five of our members; three presenters and two interpreters. It was a wonderful event for me and I am humbled for the opportunity to serve and represent Area 46. I was asked to present on the Home Group: AA’s Heart and Strehgth, which is a topic that is near and dear to my heart. While I did struggle to put together a full 30 minute talk, I thankfully received some guidance and inspiration from a power bigger than me. We never stop growing, do we?

In addition to the many other interesting presentations on AA service at SWRAASA, we heard from a panel of eleven delegates from our region, our new chairperson of the GSB, and from our own Teresa J, Southwest Regional Trustee. I learned that today’s AA is strong but perhaps not as healthy as it could be. There are current rumblings of disunity, frustration, and even anger that have created blocks in our General Service Structure. May we always remember to place principles before personalities.
