Hello Area 46!
I hope everyone is staying warm and enjoying the holiday season. I look forward to seeing everyone at our last assembly of 2022 in Carlsbad.
The Technology Committee is continuing to look into improving the experience of both in-person and virtual attendees at our hybrid assemblies, however we cannot do this alone. The number one factor in determining a successful hybrid event is internet reliability. Host Districts, take note! We need your help in conducting internet speed tests in every usable room to ensure minimum requirements are met before selecting a venue. We are working with the Area Chair to make these technical requirements clear to all Districts so we can have more consistent experiences across the state. Committing to the hybrid platform is a huge undertaking, and we are so grateful for any and all support outside of our committee.
I am receiving a lot of emails lately questioning whether specific meetings on our Area 46 Meeting List remain active. When these inquiries come in, I usually direct them to the applicable Central Office or DCM, however responses have been inconsistent. The Technology Committee is currently brainstorming a better/faster method for internal communication among Area 46 Trusted Servants & DCMs, but in the interim we are asking for your assistance in making sure our meeting list is as up to date as possible.
We have also formed a subcommittee to evaluate how providing technical support for hybrid area events has impacted the position of the Area 46 Technology Chair; and to make recommendations for how the Technology Committee might be organized to ensure that all responsibilities are met without making unreasonable demands upon the time of the Technology Chair and committee members. The subcommittee is in the process of exploring possible solutions and intends to bring a proposal before the assembly by March 2023.
