Hello Area 46!
It was wonderful seeing everyone at the December Assembly in Carlsbad. Special thanks to District 10 and all who volunteered to host and produce this event!
Our committee prepared two motions for this assembly and we thank all Area 46 GSRs, DCMs, and Trusted Servants for your time, consideration, and vote. We will keep you posted on how we plan to make the old PA system available to interested Area 46 groups or districts.
The Technology Committee is continuing to look into improving the experience of both in-person and virtual attendees at our hybrid assemblies, however we cannot do this alone. The number one factor in determining a successful hybrid event is internet reliability. Host Districts, take note! We need your help in conducting internet speed tests in every usable room to ensure minimum requirements are met before selecting a venue. We are working with the Area Chair to make these technical requirements clear to all Districts so we can have more consistent experiences across the state. Committing to the hybrid platform is a huge undertaking, and we are so grateful for any and all support outside of our committee.
We have formed a subcommittee to evaluate how providing technical support for hybrid area events has impacted the position of the Area 46 Technology Chair; and to make recommendations for how the Technology Committee might be organized to ensure that all responsibilities are met without making unreasonable demands upon the time of the Technology Chair and committee members. The subcommittee is in the process of exploring possible solutions and intends to bring a proposal before the assembly by March 2023.
