Hello Area 46!
Online registration is now live for the March Pre-Conference Assembly in Truth or Consequences. This will be a hybrid assembly. You can help us effectively produce this event by registering in advance for either in-person or online attendance. You can find more information on the flyer in this issue of El Farolito or on the Upcoming Assembly page of dev.aa-nia.org.
The Technology Committee is working on a plan to make the old PA system available to interested Area 46 districts and groups as soon as possible. We anticipate an announcement at or before the March Assembly.
For the last eight months, a subcommittee of the Technology Committee has been meeting regularly to evaluate how providing technical support for hybrid area events has impacted the position of the Area 46 Technology Chair; and to make recommendations for how the Technology Committee might be organized to ensure that all responsibilities are met without making unreasonable demands upon the time of the Technology Chair and committee members.
The subcommittee has explored several options including:
- Making a Website Chair a subcommittee role of the Technology Committee
- Making Hybrid Event Production a subcommittee role of the Technology Committee
- Creating an Alternate Technology Chair role
- Separating the Technology & Hybrid Event Production Committees into two trusted servant positions with separate budget lines
- Considering whether Hybrid Event Production should fall under the Accessibility & Remote Communities Committee responsibilities
We discussed each potential course of action at length, and unanimously agreed that dividing the responsibilities between two standing committees was best for our future trusted servants, and best for Area 46 as a whole.
The Technology Committee will bring the following motion to the March Assembly as a proposal for discussion only. A vote will not take place until August in order to provide members time to consider the changes:
Motion to divide the Technology Committee into two, separately funded standing Area committees. The AIP Section I.F.6.l (page 19) would be amended as described in the background information and the names of the two committees would be 1) Technology Committee, and 2) Hybrid Event Production Committee.
