Treatment Committee Report – Jan 2021

Treatment Committee Report – Jan 2021

Greetings! I hope this report finds you well. The Treatment Committee met the morning of December 5 at the Area Assembly via Zoom. There were approximately 22 participants.

We opened the meeting with a moment of silence followed by the Serenity Prayer. First on the agenda was a presentation by D18 Treatment Chair Christine M-T on the district’s experience transitioning from in-per-son meeting to Zoom meetings in a treatment environment. She report-ed the district has been successful in the transition. There was also input from the Area Delegate Bill L. on the potential of creating an area wide or district-based Zoom treatment meeting with participates committing to fill those slots. Healthy discussion ensured. This creates an opportunity to members who may not be able to travel to serve in a treatment setting.

The committee then addressed the request by the Ad Hoc Committee about the Books to provide an opinion on Option 2 that states: “Distribute the books among the Area committees that express a need for them”. After discussion, it was decided that, in the event literature was made avail-able, the Treatment Committee would be able to get the materials, regardless of the quantity, in the hands of those that could use them.

Finally mention was made that the Chair is investigating finding a link that includes all State licensed drug and alcohol treatment facilities in the state to replace the cur-rent internally generated list on the Area website. The purpose would be to provide a real-time resource as well as to eliminate any appearance of promoting any particular facility. The meeting ended with the Responsibility Statement.

Yours In Service

Jeff B.

Area 46 Treatment Chair
